Grange over Sands is known as the Lake District Riviera due to the gentle climate resulting from its sheltered coastal position. The views across the bay are spectacular and ever changing. The local fells provide stunning scenery and are easily accessible. Numerous local walks start close to the Hotel, such as the Hampsfell Nature Trail, the Cistercian Way, and the Cumbria Coastal Path. For the more intrepid there are guided walks across Morecambe bay and the Cumbria Cycle Way. These can easily be combined with the excellent public transport by road or rail to provide a convenient return journey. There are also two local golf courses, both welcome non-members. For those wanting to spend time relaxing in the town there is the lovely promenade, attractive ornamental gardens, a wide selection of tearooms and many interesting local shops.
